If today is dangerous: crisis routes — never paywalled.
compressed.guide — the visible storefront of the network's structural recovery cluster.

The tissue is un-hydrated, not destroyed.

An eighty-four-day operating record from a fifty-year-old man recovering an under-hydrated structure from a thirty-year alcohol load.

This site is an open record, not a course. The protocol is three plain inputs — water volume, manual fascia release, two named moisturisers — applied daily from 26 February 2026 onwards. The reader sees the dated photographs, the daily fluid log, and the mechanical reasoning. The full operating manual is a forty-nine-pound document. The page itself is free.

The record in one paragraph.

I am James, fifty, sober since June 2020 after four weeks at a UK residential clinic. For thirty years before that I drank, sat at desks, and almost never drank water. The alcohol stopped six years ago; the under-hydration did not. On my fiftieth birthday — Thursday 26 February 2026 — I started a daily protocol: targeted water intake of around three and a half litres, manual fascia release across the face, scalp and neck, and two consumer moisturisers I already had at home. Eighty-four days later, today, the morning stiffness on waking has dropped from twelve minutes to three, the wrinkle depth across the forehead and around the eyes has reduced visibly, and strangers in the street look at me differently. This page documents what changed and how. Nothing more.

Four photographs, four dates.

Same natural light, same angle, same expression. No retouching, no filters, no cosmetic adjustment between frames. The grid is the visible surface of an internal recovery the network's addiction cluster documents separately. The face is the readout; the recovery is structural.

Three tests you run on yourself in ten minutes.

Before you decide whether the operating manual is for you, the desk asks you to run three tests on your own body. No equipment. No clinician. Ten minutes. Each test returns a single number. Write the three numbers down on paper. The £49 document interprets each number against the eighty-four-day record and tells you which of the three mechanisms below is doing the most damage in your specific case. If the three numbers all come back well inside the reference ranges, do not buy the document. The compression is not yet what the protocol is designed to address.

Test 1 — The stiffness clock

How many minutes does the body need before it moves cleanly in the morning?

Instructions. Set an alarm for your normal waking time tomorrow morning. When the alarm sounds, start a stopwatch on the bedside table. Execute standard waking physical movements immediately. Do not alter normal morning routine variables. The moment the structure achieves un-compensated spinal rotation, un-restricted cervical movement, and lumbar decompression, halt the stopwatch. Write the number of minutes down.

Reference range.

  • Under 3 minutes: not the audience for this document. The structural compression is mild.
  • 3 to 7 minutes: the protocol's three mechanisms are likely operating at moderate load.
  • 8 to 15 minutes: the audience the operator was when he started on 26 February 2026.
  • Over 15 minutes: see the network's musculoskeletal baseline at back.guide first.

What this measures. Overnight fascial adhesion. The longer the body has been at chronic gravitational load (desks, drinking, driving), the longer the morning stiffness window. The operator went from twelve minutes to three over eighty-four days; the document carries the full week-by-week timeline.

Test 2 — The rib-cage expansion

How many centimetres does the rib cage open between a full exhale and a full inhale?

Instructions. Stand before a vertical mirror, shirt removed or shirt thin enough to read the chest wall. Take a soft tape measure and run it around the chest at the level of the nipples, parallel to the floor. Exhale fully — push every last bit of air out. Read the number. Inhale to maximum thoracic capacity. Isolate the movement to the chest wall; exclude abdominal expansion. Read the number. The difference is the rib-cage expansion in centimetres.

Reference range.

  • 8 cm or more: the rib cage is moving as a healthy structure should.
  • 5 to 7 cm: the rib cage is stiff. Fascia between the ribs has set. Common in long-time desk workers and ex-drinkers.
  • Under 5 cm: locked rib cage. The intercostal fascia is heavily bound. The protocol's environmental input (the third mechanism below) is doing the most work here.

What this measures. Intercostal fascial mobility. Twenty years of desk work compresses the rib cage forward and locks the fascial sheet between the ribs. The bus-and-walking environmental routine described below is what opens it again. The document carries the rib-cage-expansion timeline alongside the morning-stiffness timeline.

Test 3 — The jeans ratio

Where does the waistband of the jeans the operator wore at thirty sit on the body today?

Instructions. Select a non-stretch denim garment acquired between age twenty-eight and thirty-two. Secure the fastening without artificial abdominal retraction. Read the position of the waistband honestly:

  1. Closes comfortably at the natural waist (the position the jeans were designed for): the structural column has not compressed forward.
  2. Closes but only below the natural waist, sitting on the upper hip: the lower-back fascia has compressed. Common in men over forty.
  3. Closes only with breath held, and rides above the natural waist: significant abdominal fascial binding and lumbar compression.
  4. Garment fails to fasten: adipose tissue volume obscures structural compression data. Defer this metric; rely on Test 1 and Test 2 alone.

What this measures. Total structural compression of the trunk. The fascial sheet that runs from the diaphragm to the pelvis shortens under chronic desk-and-screen load. The jeans-from-thirty are a fixed reference object: they have not changed; the body wearing them has. Result 2 or 3 is what the £49 document is structured to address mechanically.

What the three numbers tell you together

Select the tile that matches the three readings. The reading below the grid updates.

Pattern A — systemic lockdown (stiffness over 15 min, expansion under 3.5 cm, jeans will not close above the upper hip): the structural compression is deep across all three axes. The desk recommends starting with the baseline at back.guide before the compressed.guide protocol, because the lower-back wall needs separate attention first. The £49 document is still relevant, but the sequence matters.

Pattern B — anterior-trunk compression: the operator's pattern on 26 February 2026. Stiffness moderate, rib-cage expansion stiff, jeans on the upper hip. This is the audience the document was written for. The three mechanisms below are mapped one-to-one to the three tests: Fluid Matrix addresses stiffness, Environmental Infrastructure addresses rib-cage expansion, Fascia Manipulation addresses the jeans-line compression. The document is the schedule.

Pattern C — mixed signals (one extreme, two mild): unusual. The document's eighty-four-day ledger shows the pattern the operator's body returned on each test week by week. Most readers in this pattern find one specific mechanism is doing most of the damage. The document names which.

Pattern D — decompressed compliance. The structural metrics sit within target tolerances (stiffness under 3 min, expansion over 8 cm, jeans at natural waist). Do not purchase the advanced intervention files. Read the free pages. Come back in five years.

Three numbers, on paper, are not a diagnosis. They are a baseline. The protocol works on the basis that you re-run the three tests every fourteen days through the ninety-day window and write the new numbers underneath the old ones. The document carries the 14-day re-test cadence, the operator's own fourteen-day deltas across the eighty-four-day record, and the honest list of conditions under which the numbers do not move.

These metrics represent the documented mechanical boundaries of a single fifty-year-old male structure. They function as a comparative reference frame, not a population-validated diagnostic standard.

If the three numbers above tell you the compression is real, scroll to the buy block. If they tell you it is not, close the tab.

The three mechanisms, named.

5a. Fluid Matrix

Fluid volume is the upstream variable.

Alcohol is a systemic diuretic. Thirty years of regular intake leaves the deep tissues running at a chronic fluid deficit even after the drinking stops. Six years of sobriety reduced the inflammatory load but did not, on its own, refill the tank. A measured intake of roughly three and a half litres of water a day, taken at four fixed points across the working day, is what re-saturated the structure. The visible plumping of compressed tissue around the eyes and along the jaw is fluid returning to a column that had been emptied for decades.

5b. Fascia Manipulation

Manual release decompresses the surface above the muscle.

The fascia is the connective sheet between skin and muscle. Under chronic gravitational load — desks, screens, jaws set against a working day — it compresses and binds. Twelve minutes a morning of plain manual release across the forehead, temples, jawline, scalp and the soft tissue under the ear restored the slide between layers. The wrinkle reduction is not collagen rebuilding overnight; it is the tissue underneath releasing the line the wrinkle was tracing. The technique is named and mapped in the document.

5c. Environmental Infrastructure

The day around the protocol is part of the hardware.

I do not own a car. The daily two-hour movement across Tenerife by public bus over coastal roads is passive fascia work the body does without thinking. The morning fluid-and-release block runs for twelve minutes before any adult load enters the day — radio, phone, email — and that boundary layer is not negotiable. Removing vehicular micro-friction and protecting one quiet block at the start of the day are inputs to the same protocol, not lifestyle choices around it.

The two products, named.

Two consumer moisturisers, both used personally before the protocol existed, both in every supermarket and pharmacy across Europe. No others.

6a. Nivea Creme — the blue tin

The occlusive barrier. Water-in-oil emulsion, mineral oil and petrolatum, with glycerin as the humectant. Applied each morning across the face, neck and the back of the hands after the fascia release block and before leaving the house. Local equivalents anywhere in the world: check the back of the tub for petrolatum or mineral oil as the second or third ingredient and glycerin within the top six. Cost in Tenerife: under five euros for a tin that lasts roughly three months at this usage rate.

6b. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel

The humectant engine. Sodium hyaluronate (the salt form of hyaluronic acid) suspended in a dimethicone crosspolymer base. Applied each evening to clean dry skin and left to absorb. The gel pulls water into the upper layer of the skin and holds it there overnight. Local equivalents: check the active for sodium hyaluronate or hyaluronic acid in the top five ingredients. Cost in Tenerife: under twelve euros for a fifty-millilitre tube that lasts six to eight weeks.

The desk names only what the desk has used. No third product will appear on this site without three months of personal use and a public reason.
